Contra Harder Game
For a greater challenge, beat the game then immediately start over. You'll start from thebeginning with whatever lives you had left and changes to the game have been made (e.g. more enemies, they shoot at you more, enemies placed differently.) You can repeat this process as many times you want until you die or quit.
Contra Steal Lives
If you're playing a two-player game and you die, hit A and B simultaneously to steal one of player two's lives.
Contra Level Select
At the main menu press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start, Start. If you did it correctly you should see a Level Select screen on the bottom of the screen.
Contra 3 Lives
To start the game with three extra lives press UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A at the title screen. Now press Start for a one-player game or Select and Start for a two-player game.
Contra 30 Lives
To start the game with 30 extra lives press UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, B, A at the title screen. Now press Start for a one-player game or Select and Start for a two-player game.
Contra Infinite Lives
To start the game with infinite lives press UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, A, B, A, B, Select and then Start at the demo screen (when it says "Jungle").
Contra Sound Test (Japanese Version Only)
NOTE:This trick only works with the Japanese Famicom version of thegame and does not work with the U.S version or the European Probotector.
At the title screen,simply hold B and A and press Start. You will be takento a menu in which you'll be able to listen to all the music and SFX fromthe game.
